Super Sidekicks is an Arcade-style soccer game. The game follows the rules of soccer but is played with an emphasis on pure action instead of the strategy or simulation aspects of the game. You can choose from 12 national teams, with each having its own individual pre-kickoff player formation. The selectable teams include France, Holland, Japan, Korea, USA, England, Argentina, Mexico, Germany, Italy, Spain and Brazil. Aside from the difference in initial formations, the teams play similarly, with one player on each side being designated an "Ace" and having enhanced abilities compared to the other players.<br><br>You can choose to play the SNK Cup or versus mode. In the SNK Cup, you must lead your chosen team against the other teams in a single elimination tournament in an effort to become the number one team. Versus mode lets you play against another human.<br><br>When in control of the ball during gameplay, you can choose to pass the ball to another player, go for a kick, or drive the ball up with the current player. An arrow at the base of your currently controlled player indicates the direction of his nearest teammate; this is where the pass will go if you try for one. On defense, you're automatically assigned a player to control based on proximity to the opposing ball carrier and ability to intercept. You can slide tackle the ball carrier to steal the ball or try to physically tackle him and shove him out of the way. Too much roughness, however, can result in a penalty and a free kick.
