Product Information
Mortal Kombat has arrived on the Game Boy Advance, complete with the digitized character models and graphic violence that helped define the series in its mid-'90s heyday. Mortal Kombat Advance is most closely based on Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, a 1995 arcade game which later became available for the SNES, Genesis, and Saturn consoles. Some changes have been made to the portable version, however, as the game features only fatalities and "friendships," not "babalities," "animalities" or "brutalities." <br><br>The game contains 26 playable characters (three of which must be unlocked), ranging from the heroic Liu Kang to the evil Shao Kahn. The 2D-based gameplay remains faithful to the series' combination of traditional martial arts, ranged attacks, and special moves. There are five levels of difficulty to choose from, as well as four "destinies" for single-players to conquer. Two players can compete in "1 on 1 Kombat" and "2 on 2 Kombat."<br><br>The first home versions of Mortal Kombat were significant in leading to the establishment of the ESRB ratings system in 1994, and while Mortal Kombat Advance is the first Game Boy Advance game to receive an "M" rating, fatalities and blood can be turned off for those who want a lower level of violence.Product Identifiers
