After notifying the merchant of a faulty notification, I received a pink slip notice of "unable to deliver." That notice instructed to proceed to my nearest Post Office the day following receipt and present the notice as a Claim. I did so -- the Post Office had the item I purchased and gave it to me. All is well, and the merchant was not at fault.
